Will The Ottawa Senators Punish Emery For Missing Yet Another Practice?
Emery showed up after the Team took the Ice for a 4pm skate at the Farmingdale Iceworks practice facility in Long Island on Monday as the Team prepares to face the Islanders Tuesday. He was then told not to join the team on the Ice for practice.
This is just the latest of several incidents involving Emery, who signed a three-year, $9.5 million contract in the off-season after helping lead the team to the Stanley Cup Finals last year.
Emery was also late twice for team flights last season and was involved in a fender bender prior to the team's second round playoff game against the New Jersey Devils.
He was also involved in a "road rage" episode with an elderly motorist on a Ottawa highway. The motorist claimed that Emery had threatned him and vowed to file a lawsuit, however nothing has developed from that.
He's been in fights with team mates and throwing water bottles around, while gerber's been fairly solid while going about it quietley. how much patience is left?
He was fined a lot. The truth is, no other team really wants him. So the Sens are stuck with him, and have to make the best of the situation. Neither Gerber nor Emery are top-notch goalies, but Gerber has better stats than some of the best goalies this year (of course it helps to have an amazing team in front). I think Ottawa needs to get a better goalie in the next few years (they will be a REALLY good team if they can get a great goalie for once). Emery will be out eventually if he doesn't change his attitude. I know he's frustrated with not getting to start many games, but you have to work your way up to that point. Being immature (with more money this year, too) will not help.
John Paddock is a tougher coach compared to Brian Murray and Emery should know that by now. To be fair to Emery, people are constantly picking on him even though some of the stuff he does is his own personal, life choices (ex. making rap songs and driving large vehicles) and no one has a right to judge him based on that.
